Reports filtering from Tool’s official website Toolband.com have confirmed that a new album will be released in May 2012. Unlike last week’s failed Apocalypse, the author’s calculation of the release date “is not based on some preposterous coded Biblical numerology. Instead, it comes from a credible source who, himself, obtained the information via trance-contact (which was written down on a scratch pad) from an interplanetary avatar (and sector commander) named ZEMKLA JR. from the city of Farlon on the planet Selo (in the Bernard’s Star System).”
More as it unfolds…it is close to that time though; recently Tool have been releasing in 5-year stints that year is nigh.

Jape returns with a new double A side single recorded between France and Ireland. Hands of Fire / Lying on a Deathbed are two tracks that will feature on the Dubliner’s forthcoming album Oceans Of Frequency which will be released on his Music / Is / For / Losers label in September.
Villagers‘ Conor O Brien shows that he is more than just a strummer of steel strings as he takes to the drum stool for the second of the two songs below. Lying on a Deathbed is a step back from the synth-driven opener but we have come to expect both the clever tongue-in-cheek yet painfully open ballad and also the upbeat encouraging floor filler from Richie Egan.

In its early days Vincent Moon and his La Blogotheque team were renowned for their spur of the moment, one take film making on Parisian streets and interiors. Now it seems that this spontaneity has receded and a certain slickness take its place. But that’s neither here nor there. The latest La Blogotheque episode features Battles performing the track “Wall Street” from their forthcoming album “Glass Drop”, which will be released via Warp on June 7th. The band play Forbidden Fruit Festival in the grounds of IMMA two days before the release alongside Aphex Twin, Caribou and Solar Bears.
