Body and Soul Festival

This weekend signals the beginning of my favourite micro festival that Ireland has to offer. Body and Soul more than won me over last year with its laid back atmosphere, lush surroundings, natural feel, and splendid music catalogue. I’m looking forward to more of the same this weekend in Westmeath’s Ballinlough Castle.

Here’s a pick of 5 acts to look out for over the weekend;

Toro Y Moi

Holy Fuck

Mount Kimbie

Delorean

Halves

Weekend tickets are still on sale through Tickets.ie.

New Jape Double A-Side: Hands of Fire / Lying On a Deathbed

Jape returns with a new double A side single recorded between France and Ireland. Hands of Fire / Lying on a Deathbed are two tracks that will feature on the Dubliner’s forthcoming album Oceans Of Frequency which will be released on his Music / Is / For / Losers label in  September.

Villagers‘ Conor O Brien shows that he is more than just a strummer of steel strings as he takes to the drum stool for the second of the two songs below. Lying on a Deathbed is a step back from the synth-driven opener but we have come to expect both the clever tongue-in-cheek yet painfully open ballad and also the upbeat encouraging floor filler from Richie Egan.
